How to perform a Self-Verification Test

There are two options to perform a self-verification test. Choose one below.

1.

Swab Test

Identification of the type of material used for service lines and in home plumbing can be done using an at-home swab test.

Swab tests can be purchased from most home improvement stores, as well as many online retailers. Unfortunately, supply chain disruptions have limited the availability of many brands of swabs, including 3M Leadcheck. If you have trouble finding swab tests, you should consider the “Magnet and Coin” test.

2.

Identify the test area

3.

Perform the following steps

1

Clean

Clean the service line with a scotch pad or wet cloth to remove any dirt or dust that may have accumulated.

2

Crush

Crush points "A" and "B", located on the barrel of the swab to activate it.

3

Shake and Squeeze

Shake and Squeeze the swab gently until yellow liquid comes to the top of the swab.

4

Rub

Rub the swab on the test area for 30 seconds.

1.

Have a magnet and a coin or a key

Identification of the type of material used for service lines and in home plumbing can be done using a magnet and a penny.
